Welcome to Best Hire Ever, the podcast about hiring top talent with undeniably talented corporate leaders, recruiters and candidates hosted by Kris Dunn, Kinetix CHRO and partner (Founder of Fistful of Talent, The HR Capitalist and author of The 9 Faces of HR) Today KD interviews friend and mentor Harry Joiner to talk about how great candidates look on LinkedIn vs. their resume.

1:45: KD starts the episode by introducing Harry and talking about his origin story with his first eCommerce search.

5:15: KD and Harry talk about the recruiter grind, Harry discusses his personal journey and how long it took for him to go out on his own as a specialty headhunter in his 40s.

12:45: KD and Harry discuss the concept of the resume simply being in place to generate a LinkedIn search when it comes to candidates involved in high end searches

15:45: Harry discuss what happens when he’s on call with private equity types for a major search and presents resumes – they all start looking up the candidate online and the connections they have for on LinkedIn.

18:00: Harry says, resumes aren’t dead, yet. You can still include more insider information on resumes that can’t be promoted on LinkedIn but Harry says candidates need to be more specific on their skills in their LinkedIn Bio

19:50: KD and Harry talk about the dangers of listing your side hustles on LinkedIn, but how you can list those skills in another way.

22:05: Harry breaks down the concept of Price’s law of Economics, which basically means that the square root of any candidate pool in any industry is generating 50% or more of the value.

28:35: KD and Harry discuss the need for focus and identity in high end candidates, how overlap with positions can hurt them and make them look like less than the idea candidate.
